I'm Starting a "School"

I have always found the greatest joy in working with students who don't fit the traditional academic mold. Students who are absolutely brilliant but they struggle in conventional settings and become easily frustrated by trying to learn faster than they are able to. My heart breaks for these kids who get so overwhelmed and start doubting their capability. I watched my own son struggle his way through school and it broke my heart to see him fail to realize how amazing he truly is. So I decided to start a school for kids like him.

My approach will be different. I want to embrace the different learning styles. Instead of grade levels, students will work through standards at their individual ability levels. I want to celebrate every milestone and victory. There is nothing better than when a student's face lights up because they finally understand something they have been struggling with!

I want to change the way we view and approach education. No more one size fits all approaches. I want to help students see that with a growth mindset, persistence and a little extra support, they can achieve anything they set their mind to. I want to help them unlock their hidden talents and make it about more than teaching, but about building relationships and transforming lives.
